I woke up in
Elko and headed over to Gold Rush Harley-Davidson which was closed yesterday  I spoke with the manager about this and that, bought my shirt and stuff and headed down the highway |

I complained yesterday about it being cold Mother Nature got back at me Today started out about 46 degrees and never got much higher |

The weatherman forecast about a tenth of an inch in the morning tapering off in the afternoon So, I did not put on my rain gear. BIG MISTAKE. About half an hour out it started raining. Light at first, but soon a serious deluge It remained raining for most of the day By the time I had an opportunity to stop and put on my rain gear, I was already wet and cold |

I stopped in
Battle Mountain
for a cup of coffee it was raining, but I was not yet overly concerned thinking it would let up |

County and I intended to take a photo of the Humboldt County Courthouse |

But by now, it was raining hard. I stopped in a Walmart and bought a long sleeved shirt I was hoping for flannel or even a fleece sweatshirt but the summer clothes were all out and nothing warm could be found |

I put on the new shirt and donned my rain gear with the bike parked out front getting wetter and wetter The greeter watched me with rising concern not understanding why I was undressing and dressing right there |

I set out to brave the elements as you can imagine, wet clothes under the rain gear did not give a lot of warmth |

nothing there I have not already seen that I would care to stop for so I sped through |

I was seriously considering continuing on and trying to get into California But when I stopped in Fernley and gassed up, the chill caught up with me and I wanted to go no further |

I thought about staying at the Best Western Plus here in Fernley, but when I saw it, I noticed that there are only outside hallways and I wanted to get and stay inside for the duration |

It was just about 2:00 in the afternoon so I had to plead Comfort Suites Fernley to let me check in early They gave me a very nice suite and here I am for the night |

Tomorrow looks as cold and rainy all the way through Sacramento, and there will probably be few photo-ops but I hope to be in my own bed at the end of the day |
